Unit 48 is an exciting, unique funk, soul, and groove band based in Kent. Formed in March 2017 by drummer and percussionist Artur Bromfield alongside keyboardist Aaron Saffell, the group grew out of a shared background in the Medway music scene and a mutual passion for jazz, soul, and avant-garde influences. The band took its name from their original rehearsal space at Fort Horsted in Chatham, where a prominent industrial sign reading "UNIT 48" featured in their earliest band photos.

After recruiting top local talent, Unit 48 launched their debut single, Travelling Heart.

By early 2018, they were on the road for a headline UK tour across London, Glasgow, Sheffield, Newcastle, Norwich, and Leicester. They have since built a strong live reputation, gracing the stages of iconic London venues - including Camden’s Dublin Castle, Soho’s Spice of Life, Nambucca, and The New Cross Inn - alongside frequent festival appearances, pub gigs, and private events.

Backed by a growing catalogue of original singles and live session covers, Unit 48 is currently in the studio writing and producing their upcoming full-length album.
